Hi Reader, Happy Sunday! Summer in Canada always seems to pass too quickly, so I hope you’re making the most of these last few warm and sunny weeks. ☀️ After a week with no Express Entry draws, IRCC returned with three draws over three consecutive days. You may have stared at 523 on Tuesday and 382 on Wednesday and wondered how both scores could belong to the same Express Entry system. They do. But they represent two very different groups of candidates. Grab a cup of coffee. Let’s go through it together. ⚡ This Week in Canadian Immigration (30-second summary)
Express Entry DrawsDraw #435: Provincial Nominee Program | August 17 ✅ Invitations issued: 442 📌 The higher score is expected because Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive 600 additional CRS points. Draw #436: Canadian Experience Class | August 18 ✅ Invitations issued: 1,000 📌 This was a much smaller CEC draw than the August 5 round, when IRCC issued 3,000 invitations at 516. With only 1,000 invitations available this time, the cut-off rose by seven points. If your CRS is between 500 and 522, this is a reminder not to build your entire plan around the assumption that the next CEC cut-off will fall. Draw #437: French-Language Proficiency | August 19 ✅ Invitations issued: 5,000 📌 To be eligible for this category, you need French test results showing at least NCLC 7 in all four abilities. You must also qualify for one of the three Express Entry programs. The 382 cut-off does not mean that someone with basic French can receive an invitation. French-category cut-offs also fluctuate, and one low draw should not be treated as a permanent benchmark. PNP UpdatesBritish Columbia On August 20, the BC PNP issued 602 invitations through two High Economic Impact selections: ✅ 337 invitations to candidates earning at least $55 per hour and $110,000 per year in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation 📌 If you received an invitation, you have up to 30 calendar days to submit a complete BC PNP application. Official BC PNP draw results Prince Edward Island PEI issued 181 invitations through its Labour and Express Entry categories on August 20. No Business Work Permit Entrepreneur invitations were issued. Newfoundland and Labrador Newfoundland and Labrador issued 122 invitations on August 18. All 122 invitations were issued through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program. Official Newfoundland and Labrador results 💡 Professional InsightThis week did not simply produce a high CEC score and a low French score. It showed how segmented Express Entry has become. IRCC issued five times as many invitations through the French category as it did through CEC. The lower French cut-off reflects both the larger draw and the additional French-language eligibility requirement. Here is what IRCC communicating with potential Canada PR candidates: We need French speakers. What You Should Do This Week

Hi Reader, Happy Sunday!Toronto was hit by what officials described as a “100-year storm” on Wednesday, bringing torrential rain, large hail, widespread flooding, and power outages across the city. If you or your family were affected, I hope everyone is safe and that things are slowly returning to normal. ❤️ It was also an unusually busy week for Canadian immigration. If you checked the Express Entry page, the answer changed almost every day, with four draws held in five days. Grab a cup of...
Hi Reader, Happy Sunday! Summer is a great time to explore Canada by bike or scooter. My husband was in an e-scooter accident on his way to work this week. Thankfully, he is home and recovering. If you commute by bike or e-scooter, please wear a helmet and take extra care out there. Now, back to Canadian immigration. There were no new Express Entry draws this week, but there were several important provincial updates and one significant announcement for Hong Kong applicants. Grab a cup of...
