EE Draws: 8,807 Invitations This Week

It’s August, and summer in Canada is in full swing. Long days, warm evenings and weekends outdoors are a nice reminder of the quality of life that makes so many people want to call Canada home.

⚡ This Week in Canadian Immigration: 30-second summary

IRCC issued 8,807 Express Entry Invitations to Apply through four consecutive draws from August 4 to August 7, 2026.
Ontario opened the Expression of Interest portal for its new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream on August 4.
BC PNP issued more than 500 Skills Immigration invitations on August 6, targeting childcare, healthcare, education, veterinary care and construction occupations.
IRCC also opened consultations on economic priorities for 2027 Express Entry category-based selection.
IRCC published details of the Manitoba Workforce Transition Bridge public policy, which provides a work permit option for a defined group of workers already identified by Manitoba.

Express Entry Updates

This was one of the busiest Express Entry weeks of 2026.

Draw #431: Provincial Nominee Program

✅ Date: August 4, 2026
✅ Invitations issued: 507
✅ CRS cut-off: 768
✅ Program: Provincial Nominee Program

📌 What this means:

Do not compare the PNP CRS cut-off of 768 directly with other Express Entry draws.

A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points. This is a separate selection lane for candidates who have already secured a provincial nomination.

Draw #432: Canadian Experience Class

✅ Date: August 5, 2026
✅ Invitations issued: 3,000
✅ CRS cut-off: 516
✅ Program: Canadian Experience Class

📌 What this means:

The CEC cut-off remained at 516, the same as the July 21 draw, but IRCC increased the number of invitations from 2,000 to 3,000.

If your CRS is below 516, do not assume that a few more CEC draws will automatically bring the score down to you.

Review whether you can realistically increase your CRS or whether another pathway should form part of your PR plan.

Draw #433: French-language proficiency

✅ Date: August 6, 2026
✅ Invitations issued: 5,000
✅ CRS cut-off: 391
✅ Category: French-language proficiency

📌 What this means:

This was the largest draw of the week.

The CRS cut-off also dropped from 399 in the July 22 French draw to 391.

But remember, a CRS of 391 alone does not make you eligible for a French-language draw.

You must meet the Express Entry requirements and have eligible French test results with at least NCLC 7 in all four language abilities.

Draw #434: Transport occupations

✅ Date: August 7, 2026
✅ Invitations issued: 300
✅ CRS cut-off: 470
✅ Category: Transport occupations

📌 What this means:

This was the first Transport occupations category draw of 2026.

For the current occupation-based categories, candidates generally need at least one year of cumulative work experience in a single eligible occupation within the previous three years, in addition to meeting Express Entry requirements.

If you work in an eligible Transport occupation, check your NOC carefully. Your job title alone does not determine whether you qualify.

IRCC Updates

2027 Express Entry Category Consultation Opens

IRCC opened its consultation on 2027 Express Entry category-based selection on August 4. The consultation closes on September 1, 2026.

IRCC is reviewing how Express Entry should continue addressing labour shortages, attracting highly skilled talent and supporting Francophone immigration outside Quebec.

This is important, but these are consultations.

They are not the confirmed 2027 Express Entry categories.

📌 What this means:

Do not change your career, choose a study program or switch occupations because of a category that IRCC is only considering for 2027.

Plan with the rules that exist today. We can adjust when IRCC confirms what changes for 2027.

PNP Updates

British Columbia

On August 6, BC PNP issued Skills Immigration invitations targeting five priority areas.

✅ Childcare: 183 invitations | Minimum score: 102
✅ Health: 124 invitations | Minimum score: 84
✅ Education: Fewer than 5 invitations | Minimum score: 68
✅ Veterinary Care: 6 invitations | Minimum score: 72
✅ Construction Trades: 187 invitations | Minimum score: 88

📌 What this means:

This was a strongly targeted BC PNP draw.

B.C. continues to prioritize workers in specific occupations rather than holding broad invitation rounds across the entire Skills Immigration pool.

If you are working in one of these priority areas, particularly childcare, healthcare or construction, this week's draw is encouraging. But check the actual eligible NOC and program requirements rather than assuming that working in the broader sector is enough.

Manitoba

IRCC also published the Manitoba Workforce Transition Bridge public policy this week.

The policy can provide open work permits to a defined group of existing workers whom Manitoba has already identified as strong candidates for permanent residence.

The measure covers a cohort of up to 2,700 temporary workers.

This is not a new open pathway for everyone in Manitoba. Eligibility is tied to specific conditions, including having been screened by Manitoba and placed in the MPNP EOI pool by December 31, 2025, with the required Manitoba support letter.

Ontario

This is an important update for those of you in Ontario.

On August 4, Ontario opened its Expression of Interest system for the new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream.

This is the stream I wrote about recently when Ontario had published the eligibility and scoring system but had not yet opened the EOI.

It is now open.

Ontario also states that the new Workforce Priority Stream has launched and its former streams are now closed.

The new stream is employer-driven. Your employer must complete the required steps through Ontario's Employer Portal before you can register your Expression of Interest.

📌 What this means:

If you are working in Ontario with an employer who is prepared to support you, it is worth checking whether you meet the requirements of the new stream.

💡 Professional Insight

This week's four Express Entry draws are a very good example of why we should not look at CRS scores in isolation.

Those numbers look dramatically different because they represent different selection pathways.

A CRS of 490 may be insufficient for this week's CEC draw, while a candidate with a CRS of 392 who qualifies for French-language selection may receive an invitation.

That does not mean French is an easy route. It means that your profile needs to fit the selection category.

The question is not simply, “How high is my CRS?”

The better question is, “Which invitation pathway can my profile realistically qualify for?”

How I would approach this if you were my Canadian Immigration Roadmap client

First, I would identify every Express Entry selection lane you are eligible today based on your education and work experience.

CEC? French? An occupation-based category? Provincial nomination?

Then I would look at what is realistically achievable before your work permit expires.

If your CRS is 505 and your work permit expires in six months, the strategy will look very different from someone with the same CRS and two years remaining.

I would build around one strong primary pathway and a realistic backup plan.

What I would not do is chase whichever program had the lowest CRS score this week.

One draw should never be the reason you change your occupation, move provinces or make a major career decision.

Your immigration plan should fit your life and your qualifications, not just this week's headlines.
