You check the draw results. You count the months left on your permit.

Now there's a new plan behind both.

On November 5, Canada published its immigration targets for 2027 to 2029. The permanent resident target stays at 380,000 a year, the same as 2026. But the mix inside that number is changing, and IRCC is making up to 200,000 extra spaces in 2027 for specific groups already in Canada.

Most people will see one headline number and move on. In one hour, I'll show you the numbers that matter for your situation, and what you can do about them now.

This is for you if

  • You're on a work permit or PGWP and planning for PR
  • You're in the Express Entry pool, watching every draw
  • You're an international student deciding what comes after graduation
  • You're planning to sponsor your spouse or common-law partner, or your parents

What we'll cover

  • The new targets in plain language, and how they compare with this year's
  • What they mean for Express Entry, provincial nominee programs, work and study permits, and family sponsorship
  • Who the extra 2027 spaces are for, and who they aren't
  • Practical steps you can take this month, whatever stage you're at
  • Live Q&A: bring your questions
